Your guide will lead you through this Forbidden kingdom telling you interesting facts about the region. During the trek you can experience the dramatic views of this tree less rocky landscape. Your guide will lead you to the less visited places like Tinghkar village and Ghar gompa. On this trek you will drive to Pokhara then take a flight to Jomsom and trek via Kagbeni, Chele, Ghami, Tsarang, Drakmar and Lo Manthang. Along the way you can get mesmerizing mountain views while enjoying the truly Nepali hospitality. Upper Mustang trek can be the most rewarding trek for first time trekkers in Nepal.
DAY 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft)
Our representative will pick you up at the international airport and drive you to the hotel. After then you will take a meandering evening walk with your guide through Kathmandu’s heritage sites, and get acquainted with one another over dinner together.
DAY 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing
Today you will spend the day discovering medieval Kathmandu. Venture into Pashupatinath and visit Nepal’s largest Buddhist stupa, the Boudhanath Stupa. Later after noon you will visit monkey temple and then stroll around durbar squares in the evening. Overnight stay at hotel near Thamel.
DAY 3: Kathmandu to Pokhara (827m/2,689ft) : 5-6 hours
Early morning today you will take a 6 hours long bus drive to Pokhara. Pokhara is second major tourist hub of Nepal well known for its beautiful lakes, caves and mountain views. You will spend rest of the day exploring Fewa and other lakes and stay overnight in Lakeside.
DAY 4: Pokhara to Jomsom to Kagbeni (2,810m/9,216ft) : 3-4 hours trek
From Pokhara you will take an early morning flight to Jomsom. From there you will trek towards Kagbeni through the beautiful valley of Kaligandaki. The area gets strong blowing winds after noon. You can see settlements of Thakali community in this region. You will stay overnight in a teahouse in Kagbeni.
DAY 5: Kagbeni to Chele (3,050m/10,004ft) : 5-6 hours
Today you will trek along the Kaligandaki gorge through the strong blowing winds and get to Tangbe village. From there you will trek through the apple orchards, cultivated lands and settlements cross a river and get to Chele for staying overnight.
DAY 6: Chele to Syanbochen (3,475m/11,398ft) : 6-7 hours
Today you will cross Taklam La pass (3,624m) and Dajori La pass (3,735). On the way you can get dramatic views of Tilicho lake and pass by Ramchung cave on the way to Samar village. From there you will descend down on a steep trail and follow the upstream to get to Syanboche for staying overnight.
DAY 7: Syanbochen to Ghami (3,520m/11,546ft) : 5-6 hours
You will continue trekking further through scattered settlements, cultivated lands, forests, chortens and then cross the Nyi pass at 4,010m. From there you will descend down to Ghami village. The village surrounded by beautiful landscape and cultivated land. You will stay overnight in Ghami village.
DAY 8: Ghami to Tsarang (3,620m/11,873ft) : 5-6 hours
Today you will cross Ghami river and trek up to Tsarang La Pass at 3870m. After crossing the pass you will get to Tsarang village on the top of Charang Chu canyon. You will explore the Red Gompa and stay overnight in Tsarang.
DAY 9: Tsarang to Lo-Manthang (3,730m/12,234ft) : 3-4 hours
Today you will trek up to Lo La pass at 3950m. From the pass you can get stunning view of Lo Manthang village. You will descend down to Lo Manthang village while admiring great views of mount Nilgiri, Bhrikuti Peka, Tilicho, Annapurna I and holy Damodar lake. You will stay overnight in Lo Manthang.
DAY 10: Acclimatization in Lo Manthang
Today you will take rest and acclimatize in Lo Manthang. During the day your guide will take you to explore Jhampa, Thupchen and Chhoeda monasteries. Later in the day you will trek to Tingkhar village and enjoy the scenic views of the region. You will stay overnight in Lo Manthang.
DAY 11: Lo-Mangthang to Drakmar (3,810m/12,500ft) : 6-7 hours
You will continue trekking through beautiful Gyakar village where you will explore century old Ghar Gompa. Your guide will tell you interesting details about the Gompa and you will trek further to Drakmar for staying overnight.
DAY 12: Drakmar to Ghiling (3,806m/12,484ft) : 5-6 hours
Today you will trek through dry plateau and cultivated lands. You can expect strong wind while descending down to Ghiling. You will stay overnight in Ghiling enjoying beautiful views of Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri.
DAY 13: Ghiling to Chhuksang (3,050m/10,004ft) : 5-6 hours
You will follow the same trail getting back to Chhuksang. Along the way you can get exotic views of scattered settlements, landscapes and mountains. You will stay overnight in a tea house in Chhuksang.
DAY 14: Chhuksang to Jomsom (2,700m/8,856ft) : 6-7 hours
Today you will trek back to Kagbeni and trek further to get to Jomsom. After a long day of trekking you will stay overnight in Jomsom.
DAY 15: Jomsom - Pokhara
You will take a morning flight to Pokhara. During the flight you can get stunning views of mount Annapurna and Dhaulagiri as it fly out from between them. You will spend rest of the day in Lakeside Pokhara taking rest.
DAY 16: Pokhara - Kathmandu
Today you will take a 6 hours long drive to Kathmandu. Along the way you can many scattered markets, farm fields, villages, streams and rivers. After getting Kathmandu your guide will drive you to your hotel near Thamel. Rest of the day stroll around the city and get unique perspective of Kathmandu.
DAY 17: Departure
Make the most of your last minutes in Kathmandu with breakfast in a bistro, a city walk, and additionally trinket shopping. Your guide will meet you at your inn and drive you to the airport two hours before the scheduled flight.
